Myrtle Beach

Courtyard area by pool.

It was a cloudy and breezy day today, but it didn't stop people from going outdoors. As a matter of fact it was a good day to fly a kite. And several people did.

Catrina, Jean and Mackenzie on bridge at hotel going to beach.

Looking up the beach from hotel... In the distance there are 2 kites flying.

The boys went and played golf... On the 13th hole, they found an 8 foot aligator by the pond where their ball landed... Matt took a pic with his phone and when I asked him to send it to me he said he deleted it after showing it to me... silly kid.

Now what would you do if you saw a crab this big???

Sunset trying to come through the mass of clouds.

This should be come my logo! This is the name of a shop in Broadway at the beach.

Getting to Myrtle Beach (Sunday and Monday)

Leaving about 8:30 Sunday morning, we headed down the highway (actually it was the Northway, then the Thru-way) to NJ. Stopping in NJ at Nancy and Jim's house for Easter lunch (which was quite tasty), we gathered Jean and her gigantic suitcase... We are going to be gone for a week and she packs a bag big enough to fit a body :o)

Our route for day 1 Jim and Nancy's new digs

The luggage. Crowded backseat.

So we are heading down the road... going through Pennslyvania, then Deleware, Maryland, into Virginia. I so wish the picture of the road sign would have not been blurry.... there was an exit to a place called North East... talk about confusion in your directions.

Look, we drove by DC... What landmarks can you find in the picture? Not a bad picture for driving.

Pit stop night 1 in Fredericksburg, VA. Busy city... didn't think it was that big.

Monday morning, we, ok, I decided we needed to do something history related... come on, in the south, lots of civil war battles, etc... Mackenzie was none to happy as is apparent in one of the upcoming pictures.
Battle of Fredericksburg/Sunken Hill Rd site

Do I really need to explain this?

Jean, Matt and Ken looking at a painted picture of what the battle "looked" like as it was happening.

Oh look, see how excited Mackenzie is. That's me on the right by the way.

Along Sunken Hill Rd (the road is on the other side of the stone wall).

Next to the cemetary from the battle is this terrace spot with the cannon balls in the front.

Monday's drive:
Uneventful drive... Had a little rain and wind. Arrived about 7 pm.

Front of hotel... Kingston Planation complex

View of a pier from the room.... Please note the clouds and surf!
We are here...

Heading down the highway some more, we now pass through PA, into
